Dear Lyla,
It has been over five years since my last post. We have been busy; life has a way of pushing things that are not immediately in front of one’s face to the shadows. My writing, research and creative endeavors have taken a backseat for a few years. You have inspired me to take advantage of my “modified sabbatical” this year and explore that part of myself again. I know you are embracing your writing endeavors this year in high school and I shall do the same. I think the tone of this blog may change from its original intent but, it is a chronicle of my life as I see it, nonetheless. I will share my journey with you over this academic year (I am hoping for once a week, we shall see). Maybe it will inspire you, maybe it will bore you, maybe it will make your eyes roll so hard that they hit the back of your skull, maybe you won’t read it at all. I am ok with all the above. The point is, it is time to write again, and you have always been the muse I have needed to make me want to continue to learn and push myself to be more than I think I can be.
Love,
Mom
Dear Penni, It was so great receiving your letter to Lyla. I had been thinking about you, but knew it was the start of a new Academic year so thought I might wait a few days to let you get settled in to the school year rhythm before contacting you. I hope the year goes well, that you find the energy and inspiration to pursue your research and writing and some personal time to “just be”. —— and maybe a little bit of time for coffee and conversation. Go well into the day. Peace and joy. Kate
